It makes no sense that SE would have a range of different devices to appeal to different customers, instead of basically producing the same phone over and over again and consequently limiting their potential sales?
Seriously?
If you want a comparison to the Xperia range, look at Samsung's Omnia handsets.
What does the OmniaHD have in common with the Omnia2 or the OmniaPro handsets? Nothing but what does that matter?
It's also similar to Nokia's N-series.
The handsets within that range cover a vast number of form factors, so as to appeal to the widest possible range of customers and now with the N900, the one last common element to all of them (the OS) is no longer.
A name is just a name, a brand that is recognisable.
But it's nothing more.

But that's what the X2 is for.
And just because their first Android handset is touchscreen-only, it doesn't stop them from producing subsequent ones that have a keyboard.

I have it on reasonably good authority that the X3 is due out Q1 of next yea, meaning the official announcement will be made in the next month or so.
But we all know how poor SE are at getting products launched, so that could easily slip...

Well, even if they manage to get it on time, I still wouldn't recommend holding your breath
