battery charging question
Just got my X1 and am charging it through my computer via USB on my Mac but I don't see any lights on the phone blinking or anything? How will I know when it's charged?

Charging will be quicker with the charger than USB. The maximum output for USB 2.0 is, I understand, 500 mA, so in theory, the 1,500 mAh battery should charge from completely flat in 3 hours minimum by that method. The charger outputs 700 mA, so for the same charge it will take at least 2 hours 9 minutes. Bear in mind though, that USB doesn't always provide 500 mA (I think that sometimes it's more like 200 mA, for a 6 hour 30 minute charge!), and you're not often charging your battery from completely flat.
Still, USB is a lot handier, and most people have a mini-USB cable lying around, in the event you forget your charger, so it'll be good for a quick bump-charge to get you going.
I have to say, the battery life on the X1 seems really good. Even with all the 'extras 'running, and using it to play music for a few hours each day, it is comparable to my old W810i.Crash

Must admit that I am well impressed with battery life , far better than my N95
Also with these new type of batteries its best not to run them flat they keep in top condition if you charge them up as often as possibleMaking mistakes simply means you are learning faster.---Weston H. Agor

yeah, it's agonizing slow via usb-pc charge. Gonna have to get one of those European to US wall adapter/chargers. BTW, how do you guys know what the indicator lights mean? I didn't see it in the manual. I'm assuming flashing red means low battery while mixed colors mean charging? Do they turn off when the battery is fully charged?Last edited by daytrade; 11-05-2008 at 09:11 AM.
