This is what we all have been waiting for, an official release date. Now all we need is an official release PRICE!!....but this is fine. Only a few weeks left folks time to cash in those penny rolls...

This is quite exciting news. Price is also a concern, and I am still curious if AT&T is going to offer anc contract deals.
X1GUY,
I agree it is exciting news. I think if they do decide to offer it at AT&T or Tmo (the Xperia X1a) ...it will be sometime in 2009. Also, this is something to think about if you care, once it goes to a phone carrier they usually stripe it of some of the ROMs and other original applications inorder to add their own ATT or TMO apps crap. So me personally I perfer the unlocked verisons of these phones.
Also I read somewhere that the Xperia X1a models video playback has less FPS playback capabilities.
Typical Carrier garbage. Filling the firmware with useless applications, you are 100% right on the unlocked versions.
The only real benefit is the discount they offer to renew a contract, in which I could hopefully unlock/debrand it.
Wooohoooo I'm excited. This phone is gonna be awesome.
In the UK my guess is that it's going to be free on a £30-£45 tariff so that it can compete properly with the other smart phones and iPhone.
It isn't free no matter what tariff just because the phone is so expensive. My tariff is £45 a month for this phone yet I had to pay £50 for the handset (when I upgraded 2 days ago). If I stuck with my £35 a month tariff, I would've had to pay £150 for the handset. Oh and btw, in UK, a memory card does NOT come with the phone. That's about the only downside when purchasing this phone as it's such an excellent phone with many features but you can't really do much without good memory.
I bought an 8GB MicroSD (around 2000 tracks) for this phone which cost me £25 which means so far, I've spent £75 on this baby.
