Thread: U.S. release "date".. what do u guess?

Well, we've envied Xperia users across the ocean, and now the U.S. release date is going to be announced on Monday. Can you guess what date S.E. will announce as the launch date?

I'll start it off..... I say Thanx giving day!

It will be in the stores when the big time shopping season kicks off on Black Friday.

I say first week or so of December. Definitely not before black friday. Since that day is used for stores to clear out their old inventory anyway.

ok so i work at a best buy in california. i've told my fellow associates in the mobile/ cell phone dept. about this phone... well i guess the sony rep said that us, the store is to receive the xperia on the 4th of nov. i am not sure if that is going to be the actual phone or a dummy to display... ill keep you posted... maybe its a possiblity the rep was talking nonsense, since sony isnt suppose to announce a release date till the 3rd and then we get it the next day???...

Wow that would be amazing if it's true! Even if it was just the dummy display at least that would show that it's really on its way! In my opinion I would think they would want to get it out sometime this month. The G1 for TMobile just came out and the Blackberry Bold will be out in the beginning of this month, so I think if they wanna get in the game they should release it at least by Thanksgiving.

My question is more of who do you think will pick up the X1? I know that At&t is releasing the Quickfire which is similar to the Sidekick this month and the Blackberry Bold which is coming out Nov. 4th?? so I don't think the X1 will be out within the first week of November. TMobile just came out with the G1, so I'm thinking they may not want to pick up the X1 because they don't want to compete between the two phones. I hope that At&t picks it up because I'm due for an upgrade and would want to get the contract deal

North America never get a phone so soon after the UK. Don't forget they have to release it across Europe and Oceania first and then North America and Asia get it last.

They might time it so there will be just enough time to buy it before X-mas. And going by what happened in the UK, the announced date and the actual date of purchasing by the masses may be ages apart. If that happens, they will lose out a lot of customers to the competition because a lot of impressive gadgets are coming out in time for X-mas shopping.

I'd say Balck Friday or 2nd week of December, don't even ask why the 2nd week...

@ IMDKING- I definately agree with you...if they announce the release date but then the actual purchase date ends up being weeks and weeks later they will lose a lot of customers...hopefully that doesn't happen! I think I will definately wait for it if it comes out in December, but I don't know how I would feel about a January or February date...

Does anyone have an idea of how much you think it might go for with a contract? I'm thinkin they won't price it much higher than the iphone (if they go with At&t)?!

Well, I am not surprised! But frustrated, yes! I haven't seen nothing on the web about this so called announcement.

Remember the U.K. release saga? At least their problems started when the announced date came and went. And we haven't even heard the announcement yet, and it's looking bleak already! Now imagine that they do someday announce the release, how much grief are we going to go through trying to get our hands on these phantoms?!
