    Default Help with clock ?

    Dear all,

I am asking for your help with the following problem: I bought me the brand new Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1, and I was really frustrated to discover that, unlike previous models, this one does not have the function of setting the screensaver to show the time in its settings.

Does someone know how to activate this function or, if it is not supported by this model, if there is a programme I could install on my XPERIA X1 so that I would be able to see what time it is without having to unlock the keys and activating the screen?

Thanks in advance for your great help and all the best!

Unfortunately, I think this will not be possible.

First, unlike previous models (SE's I suppose), X1 runs on Windows Mobile, while other SE sets run on a non-OS and some on Symbian UIQ. I believe by nature WM does not support continuous screensaver, perhaps running Windows involve many intricate things which are not power-saver friendly. Running a screensaver on X1 will drain your battery real fast, even when the backlight is turned off. A night with a non-backlighted LCD will deplete at least half your battery life, and the device will get very warm.

3rd party software will get you a screensaver, but still the device must be turned-off (not shut down) to save energy.

So, unlocking or activating the screen on your X1 to check the time is the only option.

Yet X1 is only my second WM device, so I might be incorrect. Let's wait and see if others have usable solutions.

Slide to unlock (S2U2) will do this.....I use it myself. The latest version is available here A_C S2 Applications for Windows Mobile . The only button you need to press is the power button.
If someone helps you, show your gratitude. Hit the little green thanks button.

SPB Mobile Shell 2 shows the time and is a great app all round. It doesn't show the time in standby. I too was a bit miffed at finding unlike my old SE phones the X1 wouldn't show me the time etc. on standby.
