Default SPB Mobile Shell panel gets "official" Some screenshots too.

I always found it odd that SE never mentioned anything about the free SPB Mobile Shell panel, but then again they DO seem to do a bad job at marketing =.=

    Anyway, lookie:

They also mention a review on PC Advisor, but its the same review on the X1 we saw a while ago. It only has one little paragraph about the panel lol:

The best screen we've seen during the test is available for free download and is an adaptation of the SPB Mobile Shell; it simply shows everything the regular Windows interface does, but beefs up the size to facilitate use of your index finger instead of the stylus.

    Now I'm getting really confused...
The SPB shell has been announced by SE the 30th of September, it has been on the SE page for free download a long time now. I downloaded mine several weeks ago, and I have had it installed on my Xperia ever since I got the phone, October 10. It's a really nice panel, but nothing new...

Hm odd, i never found anything official on it until now.

I know its been out for a while though.

    EDIT:

Well in that link it says
For sure, Sony Ericsson wasn't able to comment on how and when Spb Shell for the Xperia X1 will be available but it exists.
So that one announced its coming. This one is the actual official launch of the panel i guess? Even though its been out for a while, like i said, SE has some ****ty marketing.

I found this link where they say it's official and free:

Aside from its top-notch hardware, one of the more interesting (and curious) things about the Xperia X1 is its nine-panel interface. As we've previously reported, Sony Ericsson has released the software development kit for the panels, so that anyone can develop their own.
It turns out that one of our favorite developers, SPB Software House, has done exactly that and already worked up its popular Mobile Shell for use on the X1.
As you undoubtedly know from our review, Mobile Shell 2.0 effectively skins Windows Mobile and makes it much more touch-friendly, with crisp icons, dial-by-photo, weather info and slick graphical menus. These things look great on "normal" devices. We can only imagine what the X1's souped-up hardware can do for it.
In this implementation, Mobile Shell serves as one of the nine customizable panels, allowing use of the other eight as you please. SPB's press release says it will be included with all X1's for free. It's also available now as a cab file (download here) on SE's Web site.

I also posted a video in the "Xperia in action videos" thread.
