3G/GPRS Internet Access Issues
Hi all,
I am having a problem with internet access on any of the applications I have installed on my X1.
Everything works OK whilst connected via wi-fi or Activesync but as soon as I venture out of my house and need to use the GPRS or 3G connections the apps cannot connect.
The apps I am having problems with are:
GpsGate (wont connect to GpsGate server)
CamerAware
Skype
All built-in apps (Opera etc) connect fine wherever I am.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Help!
Many thanks
Lee

I tried installing these apps on my friends new Xperia today (also on Voda) and had the same problems.
Has anyone else tried installing programs that require web access on their Xperias? What happened?

Cure = Reward
As I am getting a bit desperate with this (my 14 day cancellation period ends tomorrow) I am prepared to offer a reward to the first person who can come up with a fix to this problem.
£20 (GBP) sent to the Paypal account of your choice or given to the BBC's "Children in Need" charity.
Get working guys/gals!

This is to do with the Connections setting and Advanced Tab. The network management option for My ISP cannot be edited and you can't add the Vodafone 'internet' APN so it only uses the WAP gateway.

How about creating a new network connection 'group' to replace 'My ISP'.
Then add the required settings to it and use it as the default connection.

So basically you there is no way around this? Essentially Vodafone are blocking internet access from any other applications?

Hi,
I had a similar problem with my Xperia and Flexmail not liking the Vodafone proxy. I looked in the settings for My ISP and found it cannot be changed.
Or maybe it can.....
Just get the registry editor of your choice and change the following setting:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\Connmgr\Destinations\My ISP\ReadOnly from 1 to 0.
You can now go into settings -> connections -> connections and change the parameters of the MY ISP section.
I went into the advanced tab selected "select networks" and edited the MY ISP internet setting. I changed the APN from wap.vodafone.co.uk to internet with a username and password of web and web.
Flexmail now works a treat!
