Me too I'm afraid. I try downloading Knight Rider ring tone but it appears as in mp3 as well and as a result can't be used to be my ring tone.
Do I have to convert it and to what format? So far I just used my standard ring tone lucky for me it doesn't sound awful!

Yes you can use mp3 file as ringtone
- Open File Manager.
- Browse your mp3 file.
- Tap and hold on the file until the popup menu shows up.
- Choose "Set As Ringtone" (it should be the last on the menu).

Got the same problem: the phone doesn't accept mp3's as ringtones anymore. It did when new, of course, but after tweaking and upgrading it looks as it only recognizes .wma as valid ringtones.
That is: ONLY .WMA triggers the "set as ringtone" popup menu.
If selecting a mp3 (xperia.mp3 for example) it switches back to ring-default.wma
Anyone know whats going on?
Anyone knows which registry key holds valid ringtone types?
Anyone who has installed "coreplayer" and still is able to use .mp3 as ringtone?

Create a folder on your storage cards and name it 'my documents'
Move your ringtones MP3 WAV etc into this folder.
They will then appear in the drop down menus when setting ringtones or messages.
The knight rider works ok this way, i know because i use it, and uploaded it.

Hi, I'm a recent user of X1 phone and I have this same problem. Mp3 files can't be used as ringtones, even when placed in My ringtones foldes or my documents folder. However, .wma files can be used...
Anyone got a clue on this?
