Thread: can't see files on Storage card...

for some reason, I can't see files in the root directory of the Storage card from Xperia's File Explorer.
I can however see folders and files in them.

All files in the root directory of the card must still be there - at least that's what SPB Backup tells me when I try to overwrite the backup file on the Storage card's root dir.
I checked the card from 'properties' and I've got 400MB of files which is same as yesterday so I'm pretty certain that nothing got deleted, it simply became invisible for some reason. Enabling 'show files' in the File Explorer doesn't change anything.

If I connect Xperia to my laptop, I can't see any files whatsoever from Vista's Windows Explorer - Storage card appears empty but if I check its properties, it shows it has 400MB of data on it....Is SD card or filesystem corrupt? Any way of fixing this?

so in other words, no one has ever seen this problem but me? I feel special.

just a couple of questions to maybe help out... but:

do you have activesync enabled on your pc, can you view anything that way?

do you have your phone set up as a disk drive or as normal?
(settings - connections - usb-pc)

activesync is enabled and working fine. I can see all files on Xperia's RAM. I can see none on Storage card.
If I'm browsing Storage Card from Xperia, I can see all folders and files in them, BUT, I can se NO files in the root directory!!! I mean, it is the strangest thing.
What's even stranger is that if I launch SPB Backup and select 'Restore', it -sees- the backup file in the Storage Card's root directory even though it is 'invisible' to File Explorer....!
I honestly can't explain this, it makes absolutely no sense.

i made further test: i tried copying a .jpg image from my PC to Xperia's 'my pictures' folder in RAM - it worked fine.
I tried copying the same file to the Storage card and got this message 'Cannoy copy 123.jpg: The device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected.
Of course Xperia hasn't been disconnected and ActiveSync is working perfectly.
I'm starting to believe that my Storage card has errors on it that prevent it from being read properly.
Is there a software utility for disk scanning for Xperia? I need something like CHKDSK on Windows....
