need help with X1 software
Hi
I am new to the X1 and the X1 community, and that comes with tones of questions.
1- how can i reinstall Windows mobile, if i did would i lose the Xperia settings and other default settings.
2- and of course I can't get windows live messenger and windows live to work EVEN WHEN USING WIFI! i get a message that says "cant establish internet connection please check your internet settings". is their a way to fix that
Thanks in advance
A.J.

For point #1 a hard reset should restore the device to it's standard factory settings. The software/info for all this is permanently stored in the ROM (Read Only Memory) meaning you shouldn't be able to delete or change it in any way, meaning that a hard reset *should* always work.
As to losing settings, it will wipe everything. However there are plenty of applications out there now (Such as SPB Backup) which can backup the whole device to a memory card, so after the hard reset you select the file and everything comes back.
Can't really help with point number 2, though I discovered on my replacement x1 O2 hadn't properly set up the phone, running the "Carrier settings" program in the program menu sorted this out for me. Previously I couldn't access any internet type things.

Thanks for your detailed reply.
I want to know if the GPS on the xperia needs internet to work (wifi or data plan). in other words if my phone doesn't have a SIM would the GPS work.
I have the google maps.
and how do I get the Xperia to know my location mine so far is not doing it at all.
thank you

Google maps needs internet access to work, this is because the maps are not stored on your device, but rather downloaded from the web.
GPS from a basic stand-point does not need GPRS. For example some kinda GPS software like, TomTom, will not need GPRS. But be carefull with GPS software, because sometimes it will use your GPRS connection if you need "traffic updates" and such.
So there you have it, GPS needs no internet to work. But some applications will need GPRS to work (i.e. Google Maps)
