Thread: Radio playing through speaker only

Wow. Riding a crowded bus to work this morning, I put in my earphones and turned on the radio--classic rock, kinda loud.

It dawned on me after a moment or two that everyone around me on the bus was hearing my music, but not me, because the radio was coming out the phone speakers, not through the earphones.

I did a soft reset. No change. If I unplug the earphones, the radio goes off, with the usual "earphones only" message. If I plug the earphones back in, the radio plays out the speakers.

Anyone else having this issue? Anyone have a fix? My Xperia is only ten days old! Any advice much appreciated.

On the radio panel have you pressed the headphone symbol? you can only change the output with the headphones connected.

D'oh! Thank you! I was so struck by the genius of a radio that wouldn't play unless headphones were plugged in that it honestly didn't occur to me that there was another option.
