    Exclamation TomTom7 Device ID

    I have downloaded and installed the tomtom7 application on to my X1i and its find gps etc perfectly well, i have also downloaded the optional trial map for my local area.

    I have now downloaded maps for central and western europe but i am unable to follow the steps provided in the download, i cannot seem to find out my device id using the tomtom app... this is what im told to do...

    1) Install TomTom Navigator 7 with the TTN_7.450.9028.cab provided
    2) Copy the folders RASTER and VOICES to the root of the storage card
    3) Copy the folder of your map (e.g. Western_and_Central_Europe_V720_1803, not included in this package) to the root of the starage card
    4) Start TomTom and look up your DEVICE ID from TomTom, which can be found in the file ttnavigator.bif on the starage card under DeviceUniqueID
    5) Copy the file *.meta from your map folder and put it in the folder where you saved the downloaded files (I recommend C:\TTN7 for an easy use)
    6) Open a command prompt on your pc and navigate to this folder
    7) Execute the command

    Im stuck on 4 how do i find device id in tomtom app?

    Many thanks.

    Content of ttnavigator.bif file:

    [TomTom NAVIGATOR]
    DeviceName=HTC-KOVSKY
    [...]
    DeviceUniqueID=XXXXXXXXXX

    The ten red X are your device ID.

    Regards

    I know that the file you got was a torrent so it's best to keep posts like this non-existent as the forums shouldn't contain things like information regarding illegal downloads.

    its ttnavigator.tiff, open ur memory card from your computer and go to where u installed it.

    however, even when running the com prompt/keygen it doesnt always work. ur next question will be something like "it wont recognise the file name"

    Such an easy thing to explain yet so many have failed LOL. Short answer: Your device ID is in a file called ttnavigator.bif within the folder you installed TomTom 7.

    Long answer: Connect the X1 to your computer, then with Windows Device Center, go to File management > Browse the contents of your device, then navigate to the folder on the phone or memery card where you installed TomTom 7 (usually Program Files > Navigator), then in that folder will be a file called ttnavigator.bif - open that up using Notepad (copy this file to your computer if it wont let you open it), and look for 'DeviceUniqueID' your device ID number is after that.

    you may find that you don't have full postcode searchability (only 4 characters not 7)

    Go to:
    http://uk.support.tomtom.com/cgi-bin...qid=9852&Lid=1
    and follow the directions.
    All you have to do is download a file, unzip it, then copy the unzipped folder to your storage card root directory.. works a treat
