    hello

I bought my X1 at home in austria but I live and work in shanghai- I'm off to shanghai next week and was hopping to find a way to make my mobile supporting chinese characters

does anyone know how to do that? where to get a chinese language pack?

I live in Singapore and needed the Chinese support as well. Sadly, SE don't provide the Chinese packs to be added, and needs to be sent to the service centre where they'll need to flash the rom into a Chinese supported one. Else, you'll need to dl and install CEstar(installed, can read and write, but when writing, can't see the characters), and HChinese(This is easier, and free) but has the same problem. These are the only workarounds I have found so far. STill in the hunt for a more complete solution.

firstly, CE star is SLOW and it hangs all the time.
Since I'm now in HK and I HAVE to be able to read Chinese characters, my X1 is in Chinese (and I am still trying to work out what the menu means!)

    it sucks

What do you mean by "support"? If that means you just want to be able to read chinese on your phone, then all you have to do is basically add a chinese font. If you want chinese input also, you will need a chinese IME and SIPs. If you want to change your whole phone's interface to chinese which I doubt, you will have to flash a chinese ROM.
