Warning! About HTorch and Flashlight programs
Hi All,
I think some people have recommended a nifty little program called HTorch for the X1 that allows you to use the flash for your camera as a regular light.
I thought it was a great program, but I also discovered that if you use the light for too long, the LED can get burned out and/or sometime the housing for the vibrator's motor will get damaged and the X1 will stop vibrating altogether.
I didn't know about this and immediately stopped using the program after I found out. It's really a shame since the light was handy to have around at times, and SE first got me onto the idea when I bought a W800 that had this functionality and actually encouraged using it.
Anyway, not a big deal, but thought it'd serve as a good warning for everyone who has it installed on the phone or was looking to use it or some other flashlight type program for the X1.

Well, of course if people use it irresponsibly for extended periods of time....
Lets be dumb and leave the flashlight on for 5 mins and asee what happens...dope!

@BioVolt. Actually, when I read the post on XDA, it said that damage could already occur when using the flash for as little as 30 seconds.
I don't know about you, but when I'm fumbling around in the dark, looking for my keys, it sometimes takes me longer than 30 seconds...

Oh well, I dont use it anymore...due to there being other software out there....
The thing to note is that there is 2 brightness settings on the light, and the 1st lower setting will not do any damage unless used for exteneded period of time....whereas the 2nd setting which is full brightness will definately do damage more quickly...
The 1st setting is used by the camera software as a constant light for low light conditions and it would be pointless if they made it turn on with the camera and stay on constantly if it was going to cause damage to the handset, but in the same respect....they dont expect you to take more than a minute or two to take the photo and turn it off when done.
Anyway....used correctly, damage can be avioded....

I think the point is, that correct use for many people is longer than hTorch allows for before damage occurs. And given the variability in handset builds, some people might be able to use it 5 mins straight, others might find that 5s is too much. It's just not worth the risk for a few seconds more fumbling in the dark!
