Thread: Win a laptop from Sony Ericsson....

I got one of these emails at work, a friend was sure she was going to get a free laptop just by sending the message onto five people, plus to some address at Sony Ericsson.com!

Some people eh!

Sony Ericsson has contacted Pocket-lint to warn our readers of a hoax that's currently doing the rounds on email.

The phone manufacturer says it's been made aware of the email "campaign" claiming that Ericsson will give away a free laptop computer to users who forward the promotional information.

With a photograph of the Sony Ericsson logo and mention of an Ericsson contact name and email number, the company is concerned consumers will be tricked into carrying out the instructions.

Sony Ericsson has confirmed that this email campaign is a hoax and the contact name given does not exist within the company.

The company warns: "Please be wary of any competition or promotion that appears to come from outside of Sony Ericsson or Sony Ericsson’s partners official channels. Examples of these include via spam emails or SMS".

"Please do not reply to or forward the email if you receive it", is the message from Sony Ericsson.

No, really it's true.. I sent that email to 20 peole and the next day i got 4 laptops in the post..

My friends at work got that one, and I looked at the oddly, as they were so convinced.

I said "So when did SE start making laptops then????"

Exactly!

Would be interesting to see the effect on SE's mail servers if this spread like hell and had hundreds of thousands of gullible sods sending that mail to the SE address ><

As it happens, I have won something from SE.

Got an e-mail a few days ago from the head office of the company I work for saying that I had won a prize in a competition that had recently been run in conjunction with SE and that they needed an address to send the prize to.
No idea what this prize is, I'll just have to find out when it arrives...
