Cooking a rom is another story altogether...I have as of yet not gone into cooking a rom....so unfortunately I cannot offer any advice about it.

in your write up on preperation, why do you have to download a rom if your trying to dump your own rom from your own x1? whats the purpose of that?

    --- Guide ---

    1) Download and preparation of files

A good preparation makes it much easier, download the following files:

    ITSUtils - http://nah6.com/~itsme/itsutilsbin-20080923.zip
    KovskyKitchen - http://norti.hu/xperia/kovskykitchen.zip
RUU_Signed UK Rom - RapidShare: Easy Filehosting (UK ROM) ????????????

thanks for the clarification. im new to this rom thing and trying to understand the process.

whats the purpose of this line?

    5) Kovksy kitchen

    - Open your Kovskykitchen folder.
    - Copy your 4 raw files to the "baserom" folder.
    - From the stock UK ROM extract the RUU_signed.nbh to Baserom folder as well. ??????

does it mean that i still need to download a different rom to make a backup of my own?

    thanks claudio

I have yet to get clarification on this point myself but you are effectively making a copy of your rom...although it does utilise that rom for something, I am unclear as to what it uses it for.

a few more questions/ clarifications...i am from the US and i was wondering would it be possible to use a stock NAM ROM instead of the stock UK ROM? does it matter or not w/c ROM to use? i just have an impression that when i back up my phone using a UK ROM and then re-install it in my phone, i would lose access to the 850 Mhz 3G frequency ATT is using.
