I have tried 6.5 on the x1 and its gooooood!!! Obviously the occassional bug as can be expected from an unfinished platford but well worth the change! It's available at xda-developers.

It is reversable, all you do is reflash with the ROM of your choice - there are plenty of custom as well as official roms out there so lots to choose from!!

WinMo6.5 is not expected to be officially released until Late Q3/Mid-Q4 2009 so expect it around September - November this year but why wait??! The 6.5 ROM is so easy to use and there are always additional hacks and tweaks being added to it.

For all of the above, just look at the xda-dev site!

Hope this helps,

Nirave

WinMo 6.5 is not expected to be officially released 'til the second half of this year - and not for the X1 at all.
So if you want it, this is your only way.

@ step, thanks! I realised just now that it's not going to be available for the x1 and you saved me having to edit it!

I would recommend waiting for a little while for any potential bugs in the beta to be ironed out before using 6.5!

Is there any info or pics?

Have you stayed with 6.5 or gone back?

If you want to see how WM 6.5 has been shaping up, PocketNow.com (YouTube - pocketnowvideo's Channel) has good videos of different WM 6.5 builds tested on HTC Touch HD.

I've gone back to 6.1 as I found it easier to customise with add-on manilla cabs etc, some have an issue working and regarding the soft-key buttons on the screen, I haven't been able to change them or get AEB+ working!

Hope this helps,

Nirave

I'm quite happy with my R2A setup I have at the mo. I'll look into 6.5 when it is released officially.

6.5 is only supposed to be a 'cosmetic' upgrade as 7 is out next year. Apparently the original plan was to launch Windows 7 and Windows Mobile 7 at the same time, but there were some delays.
That's what I read in Smartphone & PDA Essentials anyway.
