New Guy with a couple of questions.

Hi Guys,

Hope you dont mind me asking a couple of questions in my first post on the site, I have been offered a free upgrade half way though my contact with VodaFone UK due to all the problems i have been having with the N95 8GB so ive asked for the X1 as i have been looking to moving into the WM world for a while now, but i just have a few questions before i confirm everything with voda and then have to wait a week before getting the phone,

1, whats the video playback like? i get a train to work and home, 2 hours each way so its nice to be able to watch a movie or two,
2, How much data does "Push email" cost, ive been told this can be setup to allow my hotmail to go straight to the phone but just wondering how much data each message uses as i only get 500mb a month,
3, is there a way of telling the phone to use wi-fi all the time if in range and only 3g when out of range of the wi-fi?
4, whats the largest memery card i can get for this phone,
5, and lastly is it possible to get BBCi Player for the phone?

I just need to make a finnaly choice before i tell them if i want to the X1 or the Nokia N96.

thanks guys

Richard

Hi Richard and welcome to the forums.

Now I can only give you some info because wel... I don't have it yet, some people in sweden are very lucky.

1. From what I have read the video playback is meant to be near DVD quality similar to the N95 though it is "only" 65k colours as opposed to 16million of N95 but some of my previous posts explains that is no issue at all, the few translated reviews I have read of the retail release say the video playback is good, would reccomend earphones though. small active view from here go about 5 mins in

2. Push email amount does depend on the email itself, it you are on Vodafone UK I think our limit is 1GB, if you are only getting text emails then that will not be an issue as these are normally around the 25kb mark, it will be images and videos that you recieve via email that will cause the issue, though most phones give you the option of what top download.

3. I do not know, there may well be 3rd party applications that can do this.

4. 32GB SDHC MicoSD (only 16GB is currently available)

5. Again I am not sure the N96 is the first phone i know of to have this, it i more than possible that they are workibg on a mobile version however beware this is where your data limit will be exceeded

I know with question 3, most handsets that support wi-fi, you can set priorities with it, eg wi-fi then 3G, then gprs. It will be under connection profiles wi-fi VFlive!UK etc.
