Exclamation USA Version with full VGA Video at 30 fps
Hey Guys check this out!

Possibly the USA version of Xperia will have full VGA video at 30 fps. We know already that there are 2 CPU's Qualcom 7200A with the full VGA video and the 7201A with on QVGA at just 24 fps.(due to a patent lawsuit in USA)

Guess what?. The proto tested and approved by the FCC has the Qualcom 7200A. Check picture #18 from the FCC test report:

https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/prod/oet/f...ive_or_pdf=pdf

What you think guys?
No need to buy in UK. We will know for sure when they stock the USA version in the stores.

Note: I posted this just a few minutes ago. But I can not see it. I Hope it does not duplicates

Perhaps, but I don't see why. That photo is part of the whole FCC package that was just approved. Why a UK version needs a USA approval?

You are in california, right? Well, that doesn't happen in USA not even with cars. California registered cars need special emission approval by the California Dept of Env. But they don't need approval from the State of New York even if you drive here and viceversa.

Why? Do you think FCC inspectors will be checking your unlocked UK Phone? Somebody already made that comment somewhere else and this is what I posted:

Ha ha ha , I can see people on a USA street walking with an unlocked UK phone peeking around the corner to hide the phone as soon as they see a guy with a black coat and hat coming up to them ... maybe Johnny-X ha ha ha

all electronics must be approved by FCC to use it legally in USA. SE sent uk version of X1 to FCC, so SE can sell the uk version in USA. uk version X1 is not meant for USA, but if some dealers/retailers want to sell it, they CAN since approved by FCC to sell it legally.

iamalightbulb: Welcome ot the forums.

To buy from the UK, you will need to buy it sim free, the most common place seems to be expansys.com but they may not be the cheapest, play.com is another possibility

The Xperia X1i that the FCC just gave their approval is actually not for the USA, the FCC approval gives the Xperia X1i the right to be used in the USA. Go to Engadget Mobile and go down to the 5th article title {"FCC approval ensures Americans Sony Ericsson X1 users aren't Bandits"} this article really clears thing up about the FCC approval of the Xperia X1i. The version that will hit the USA shores very soon is the Xperia X1a with 850/900/1700/1900/2100 MHz UMTS bands, now this is what's on SonyEricsson's internal computer.........!

The keyword is LEGALLY. Because currently anyone can buy any phone anywhere in the world and bring it here and use it.

So they really don't have to pass the FCC approval, BUT as you say for marketing reasons they may want to do it.

But still the patent lawsuit issue remains, if SE tries to legally market a product with a feature that is under a lawsuit that might bring some consequences. Anyway, I'm not a Attorney so I'm just speculating.

I wouldn't do it at this time, first find out what crap Vodaphone will put in the phone and make sure you can unbrand and unlock the phone. Second Vodaphone will want you to pay a termination fee. It fact if you look the contract it usally say RENT that means that is not your phone until the contract finish. (ha ha. They will sent the interpol )

Anyone from UK knows better? You opinion...
