Actually you can only tell by calling your provider, the frequency dosen't matter, it's what type of HSDPA they use. Currently Vodafone uses HSDPA 3.5mb but in the UK it is being (or now done) to 17.7mb. so the frame rate will increase because you have faster streaming of video/content. If I recall I saw a handset being released that supposed 800x600 video calls. If your provider only uses EDGE, I'm sorry your frame rate may not be 30fps as EDGE runs at a speed of GPRS (28-64 kbps) x3. Also you need to take into account how far away you are from a tower and how many people are using the tower, that will cause a drop in frame rate.

i dont think we are talking about streaming video. we are talking about taking video at 30fps, so u can watch it on TV, PC, upload it to some1, etc.

AT&T only had problems is some areas with their bands, but for the most part it will work fine. Now that Ive cleared that up

Now, if its the FPS everyone is worried about its been confirmed in several publications that the X1i is 30fps and the (a) version is stated to run 24fps...This is the only minor difference between the two models. I will say this again the X1i will work fine in the US.
Yes, most EU phones work in USA with both at&t and T-Mo but only 2G gsm becasue GSM is always quad band.

But if you want 3G hspa then it works with At& only on 1900.
and if you want 3G with T-Mobile you need both 1700 and 2100.

@LCRKZ0023 : As been kinda said already, the issue here is the high speed connections, yes you are right the GSM normal phone call will not be affected, it will work fine on all US carriers but it is the turbo 3G/3.5G/ HSDPA that people are talking about, since the phone has such great specs, it will be used a lot more for email/internet & other data heavy usages (or in theory) and it is this that people are concerned about. Some people wont use these aspects on the phone so don't care.

@netboy: Yes you are correct, these are to do with the phone video recording capability, there is some patent infringement in the US with the chipset being used so the video capabilty had to be changed to circumvent this.

@norseman....ah I see. Well in that case. To clear it up even though most of us know this by now, 3G will only work for AT&T users (HSDPA-1900) and will not work for 3G T-mobile users (HSDPA-1700), this includes both X1i and X1a. NO 3G Tmo; YES 3G AT&T.

Thanks for letting me know norseman, I thought people were ranting that their X1i woudnt work at all in US...i misread, sorry bout that.
