Outlook auto send receive, hmm
On R1 and R2 roms, I didn't have an issue.
But on R3, I have the following problem:
Send and receive schedule doesn't work.
Basically if I turn the phone on, SPBShell3 will say some figure in the email count, and then when I go into the email account and click send and receive, lo and behold there's a lot more/less than reported. Sometimes I go in to messaging to see it saying "connecting" and not getting any further than that.
What's weird is that the settings are correct as I can manually send and receive. Any suggestions? It's not maybe something SPBShell might effect? (I doubt it as why would it effect the messaging program?)
It used to be nice to quickly turn the phone on on a morning whilst my computer is booting up and see how many emails I have and read them, rather than having to send and receive, which takes almost as long as my computer takes to boot up!

Hmm, well in true unanalytical style I did several things at once and something worked, so I don't know what the problem was.
Pretty obvious things, I deleted the email account profile and re-did created it, as well as installing the Mobile Shell 3 RC1 as linked to in A thread about the beta being released here.
Not sure which is the solution, though I am hedging my bets more to mobile shell, as it seemed a little buggy with the email status anyway (for a day it reported that I had 4 new emails, even though I didn't and had opened everything etc! - only disappeared when I went to the today screen and back!)

Well, I spoke too soon. It appears that the send/receive schedule worked the first time, and then stopped again. Same problem this morning.
So I've uninstalled SPB Shell and am running a default panel, will see if that works, failing that I guess a reinstall of R3A is in order, and failing that, back to R2A

Seems to be working so far. It's odd that no one else seems to be reporting this problem with SPB Shell? Maybe it's a combination of R3A and Shell3, and not many people are using both, and if they are, have it set up to send and receive so regularly?

Hmm, I spoke too soon.
It seems to be happening both on R2A and R3A, with both the Panel version of SPB shell and SPB Shell 3.
The only other things I can think of is that it's one of the other apps I installed when I tried SPB Shell 3, and have installed each time I've tried a rom.
These are the WM versions (not panel) of Facebook, Evernote, and Memory Map. I'm hoping it's not Memory Map or Evernnote as I've only just discovered them and how useful they can be!

Whilst waiting for an epic printjob to finish late last night I decided to install the official uk seus update rather than the leaked one, even though from what I can gather, they are identical.
Due to the lateness I only installed the rom and no other apps.
In the morning the email settings were still working and I did have the above documented issues.
Since then I've installed everything I was using before except:
Facebook
Evernote
Memory Map
And no problems.
I dunno which is the culprit of the issues, but my money is on Facebook as it seems to be one of only a few apps which require the phone to restart after installing. This to me suggests it messes around with the system files/config, and uninstalling it doesn't solve the problem (requires a hard reset/flash to fix...)

i had this problem and seemed to be able to narrow it down to the SPB panel unfortunately. I'm running R3 and the HTC Touch panel now and everything, particularly email, is running smoothly.

Panel, rather than shell?
You're the first person to actually have responded and said you had the same problem, thanks!
I'm not entirely sure whether it is actually fixed now >< It seems quite often through the day I am checking the mail box to see it is at some stage of the process, not necessarily "connecting" though. However, unlike before, the process does continue as normal.
I guess the true test will be to leave it tonight and see what the box says tomorrow, I usually get half a dozen mails over the night so if it says 0 or only a few and receives the rest then, I know it's not 100% still. Though it does seem to be occasionally receiving during the day...

Meh, I've been off and on trying to sort this for a while now. I dunno what the deal is, as it seems since flashing to the R3 ROM the issue has followed regardless of what ROM I use, from R2, through to some of the WM6.5 ROM's.
Currently I am getting success on a 6.5rom by not closing the outlook/messsaging program, and using the hang-up button to go back to the today screen. If I use the x widget in top right of the screen, it doesn't auto schedule, but leaving it running in the background seems to work.
I also used the advanced config tool packaged in the rom to change some power settings so that programs have 60s rather than 1s to run from standby mode. That might have helped!
