No alert when I receive any Instant Message

Hello all. I just bought my new Xperia 3 days ago. Its all works well but facing a problem when I am using yahoo messenger through “http://uk.m.yahoo.com”. My mobile does not give me any alert (beep or vibration etc) when I receive an instant message while using yahoo messenger. It is so annoying as I never know as when I have received a message from my contacts unless I have to keep looking at the screen at all the times. Did some one can please help me in resolving this issue? Thanks.
