Unhappy Which Carrier??!! + O2 Direct & Availability

I'm still waiting on the x1 like many of you are, just confused as to which carrier to go for.
I would prefer O2 as have been with them for the past 5 years on payg, and most of my mates are on O2 as well, but they don't seem to be doing it direct from their site yet or any time soon!

I've seen the mobiles.co.uk tariffs, and their £35 one..it includes 600 mins and unlimited texts, but is this their own tariff or is it the O2 35 one? Most people have said its different, because with the O2 35 one your supposed to get one free bolt on as well, which I would have as data because I go on the internet a lot -therefore I would like to get the handset directly from them as opposed to mobiles.co.uk but as i've mentioned I don't know when this is going to be!!

Failing this i'm looking at the Voda network (plus they do the black handset too!), but none of our family or friends are on with them so if say my minutes do run out it would start costing a lot!

What do most people recommend? Has anyone had any luck with O2 direct? Could someone clarify the deals and contracts available with mobiles.co.uk?

    Thanks alot!

There are plenty of other threads with the same theme. We can only go with O2 and yesterday I was told definately this Monday and so have many others.

O2 Will have the silver handset only as predicted and do not have any information on plans available yet, so ignore what you've been told so far. They give you a totally unlocked and unbranded phone and only put a couple of screensavers on the phone.

Vodafone also give you an unlocked phone but apparently is branded on the back and they do mess with a lot of software on the phone.

I really wanted black but I have the silver and still really like it! The choice is up to you but I would definately say O2.

    Hi Ravi,

O2 stores have had the Silver X1 in stock for about a week, but I would recommend you ring your local store and reserve it before going in to collect it as they seem to be selling VERY VERY fast!! Its £49.99 on a £45pm plan, or free on £75 plan.

HOWEVER, this is only available in store, not through customer service upgrades or through any direct sales (phone or web!). Mine came with a free 4gb card as well which is a bonus!

Vodafone sell the handset for free on £18m £45pm plan but (and this is no reference to any person's particular credit rating) they seem to be declining approximately 95% of customer at the moment (my best friend works in Vodafone and told me the same!!!).

Phones4u are offering the phone in store on Vodafone and these are the plans! (I am an ex employee of Phone4u and went it there today so I know the latest deals for it!)
    free on 18m £40pm+ plan - 900m Unlimited Texts
free on 18m £45pm+ SuperBundle plan - 900m Unlimited texts, unlimited vodafone to vodafone calls, unlimited internet, unlimited music etc.
    freeo on 12m £55pm+ -plan - 1500m 500t

(I'm about 95% sure about these plans - the inclusive allowance - so it may change a bit don't blame me!)

    Hope this helps!!!

Scbond, Thanks for your reply! Where did you end up getting your O2 contract from in the end? The problem is most online stores aren't putting in what boltons you seem to be getting such as with mobiles.co.uk, therefore if you can add a bolton such as unlimited internet which I very much would like!!Lol I think i'm going to have to settle for the silver, but you reckon it matches the sexiness of the black?!

    Hi everyone,

    Update for you!!

I'm not gonna get 500 texts extra unfortunately store guy being long but the manager trying to put me on friends and family discount loll...

@ Ravi (your last post), if you get the o2 contract from the o2 store you're not gonna get 500 texts but you get whichever bolton you want as your free of charge bolton so texts, internet etc. etc.!! But the price of the phone is different compared to somewhere like mobiles.co.uk - o2 stores its more lolz

Nirave, What exact contract are you on with o2?How much you paying per month? And how much was the phone?
Do you know (or anyone for this matter) if the mobiles.co.uk plans contain a free bolton?? Im pretty sure they don't as quite a few people have mentioned there different tariffs?

I just want an xperia on o2 with a decent plan!! I know the more we wait there prop will be more offers etc but im impatient!Plus the fact that o2 only does the silver handset is a bit annoying!! Im pretty sure that the Xperia hasn't officially found its way in many places atm, even many of the online retailers don't advertise a lot on their front pages as say opposed to the N96 which was released ages ago!

(Btw anyone spot the X1 in Quantum of Solace??! One of M's bodyguards brings it out while they were at the hotel!)

I just ordered the X1 by phoning o2. Got the X1 free for £45 a month with 3000mins, 500 txts and free bolt on 18 month contract. Usually its a £75 a month contract so for £45 a month seems good enough plus the free phone.

btw it was retentions that offered me this.

Its only available on O2 atm as an upgrade for current O2 users, or for new users via their stores.
O2 direct online and telephone still do not have stock for new customers and as usual they say they were expecting stock last week but still don't have anything as of yet. Store tariffs are still not as good as the online ones with more texts, and sometimes abit more minutes! So I guess the waiting game continues...
